During the week we experienced the most severe round of thunderstorms, the foxes came in much earlier than usual to wait for their dinner. Here is the male eating his usual ration of high protein dog kibble and fish oil.

I believe this picture was taken back during the rainy season in April 1999. The foxes would really hit the feeder hard after a heavy storm would move through.

We had been experiencing severe thunderstorms the week this picture was taken, which had dropped incessant torrential rains on us. So quite understandably the foxes were quite wet -- and hungry. When I first saw this little fox wandering about the feeder, I thought she was one of the adult females. But it quickly dawned on me that we had a new face in the crowd.

The photo here is a little dark, as I was shooting under heavy overcast skies. Since no kits had shown previous to this time, I had almost given up hope, so this young vixen certainly made my day.

Here is a picture of the new kit, as she waits her turn to feed. She's somewhat lighter in color that the other foxes, and displays typical adolescent subservient behavior.

fter the kit waited for several minutes to eat, she finally decided to get up and move over beside the big cedar. The little thing never did get an opportunity to feed, as either one of the other foxes, or the neighbor's cat, were blocking her way.
