Tropical Winter

Introduction

Fifi and Shirley are getting tired of winter around Acme Acres. They join a snow sculpture competition with the hopes of winning the grand prize - a trip to Hawaii.

The story introduces two new characters - Lily (of the Valley) Raccoon and Ivan Fox. These characters were created by a young Tiny Toons fan, Yvonne Bonillas. Her depiction of these characters appear on the Squeaky Clean Furry Archive (http://rat.org/furry). This story was originally written just for Yvonne. However, it turned out fun enough that we have decided to share with the rest of the fans.

Apologies for the style. I am working on several comic book stories for my Vicki Fox character. So, all of my stories will appear as scripts that are meant to be illustrated. Also, I just find the comic book script format easier to write.

Scene 1 - Classroom at Acme Loo

Fifi and Shirley are looking out the window. They see it is snowing and adding more inches to the snow already on the ground.

Shirley: Like, I'm totally tired of this snow.

Fifi: Le sigh! I know what vous mean. And moi looks SO frumpy in zis 'eavy coat.

Shirley: Fer sure!

Both: [[ giggle ]]

Shirley: I wish we could, like, just go somewhere totally warm, y'know!

Fifi: Hawaii?

Shirley: Or the Bahamas

Fifi: Florida was nice. Remember spring break?

Shirley: Yeah. Sigh.

Fifi: Oui. Le sigh!

About this time Buster and Babs go running by outside. Buster is chasing Babs with an arm full of snowballs. Sort of a frozen version of the water fight from How I Spent My Vacation. Remember, it is cold and both should be wearing jackets.

Shirley nudges Fifi

Shirley: Look at that! Deja Vu all over again!

Fifi: [[ giggle ]] Shall we join zem?

Shirley: Negatory. I've just got my feathers warmed up from the walk to school!

Fifi: Oui! Well, we really do need to 'ead 'ome soon. Class is over, and Madame Kittee will not let us stay much longair.

Shirley: 'kay. Let's head to the mall and like, hang out, or some junk.

Fifi: To ze mall! Zere are lots of cute boys zere too, 'ow you say, 'Check out', non?

They put on their coats and leave the classroom.

Scene 2 - At the Mall

Shirley and Fifi are at the mall. The usual 100's of womens clothing and shoe stores. They have stopped at the cookie counter. Hamton is the clerk at the counter.

Fifi: So, what are vous going to buy, Shirlee?

Shirley: Ohh, I'll have the pecan nut brownie. [[ to the clerk ]] One pecan nut brownie, please.

Fifi: [[ to the clerk ]] Ze marble pound cake slice for moi!"

Hamton: That will be four dollars, even.

Shirley: Can I borrow two dollars, Feef?

Fifi: Le sigh! Of course. [[ Fifi pays the clerk ]]

Buster and Babs walk by and stop when they see Fifi and Shirley.

Buster: Hiya girls!

Babs: Hiiiieeeeee Feef! Shirl! What'cha doing?

Fifi: Hi Buster! Hi Babs!

Shirley: Hi Buster and Babsy! Oh, we're just goofing off. Trying to stay out of the snow outside.

Buster: [[laughing]] You're doing a better job than some of us [[looks at Babs with a big silly grin]].

Babs: Ohh BUSTER! I'm just starting to dry off.

Buster: And there was me thinking that you were just all wet!

Babs: Ha ha, Buster. [[Looking at Fifi & Shirley]] So, have you heard about the big competition?

Shirley: No, what?

Babs: The mall is sponsoring a snow sculpture competition. The winning team wins a week vacation to Hawaii!

Shirley and Fifi: HAWAII!?

Buster: Yeah. Details and signup are at the mall information booth down there. Buster and I have already signed up.

Babs: And, we're going to win!

Fifi: Moi don't think zo bunnies! Shirley and moi are going to win.

Shirley: [[Looking at Fifi]] Are you nuts! I'm not going to play in the snow.

Fifi: Hawaii!

Fifi then grabs Shirley's sweater collar and pulls her toward the information booth.

Fifi: [[Looking back to Buster & Babs]] Merci for ze information. We'll see 'ou at ze competition.

Shirley: [[In a broken voice]] See ya!

Fifi is very excited and now pushing Shirley toward the information booth.

Shirley: Like, Feef, stop pushing ...

Fifi: Hawaii!

Shirley: But, we, like, have to make snow sculptures!

Fifi: Hawaii!!

Shirley: It's so totally cold outside!

Fifi: Hawaii!

Shirley: Is there anything I can say?

Fifi: Hawaii!

Shirley: Hawaii?

Fifi: HAWAII!

Shirley: Let's do it!

Fifi: Hawaii, 'ere we come!

They arrive at the information booth and see the competition is tomorrow.

Shirley and Fifi: Two for Hawaii! [[Laughing]] for the competition!

Close with them signing the enrollment form.

Scene 3 - Outside at the competition

Three teams are in the event -- Buster and Babs, Fifi and Shirley, and Lily and Ivan. Bugs Bunny and Lola Bunny are the judges.

Bugs: Welcome toonsters to de' snow sculpture competiton. In a moment we will begin. You will have one hour to build a sculpture of whatever theme you want. Ms. Lola Bunny and yours truly will judge de' entries, and choose the winning team.

Shirley: [[Looks at Fifi]] Yeah, like it's obvious who will win this, fer sure!

Fifi: Weeell, maybe. Professeur Bugs ees usually fair about zeese things. We may 'ave ze chance. Let's do our best, an' just 'ave ze fun!

Shirley: Ok. We better. My tail feathers are already freezing up, y'know.

Back on Bugs. He readies the starter gun.

Bugs: On your mark. Get set. Have fun! [[BANG]]

The sound of the starter gun causes snow from the roof nearby to fall onto Bugs and Lola.

The teams spend a few minutes among themselves planning.

Buster: I want to do a Christmas scene.

Babs: Wake up and get some originality, Buster! Snow scenes have been done to death. Let's do a nice, dreamy, romantic Valentine scene. Siiigh!

Buster: Speew. No something more adventuresome. A new take on a Christmas scene.

Babs: No, no. Hearts and cupids!

Buster: Tanks and a manger.

Pan away from them as they continue to argue. We now check in on Lily and Ivan.

Lily: So what do you think?

Ivan: Sure. A chorus of snowmen sounds fine.

Lily: A co-ed chorus?

Ivan: I guess. But how do you tell a male from a female snowman?

Lily: Oh, don't worry about that. [[giggle]] Ready?

Ivan: Let's go!

Lily and Ivan start rolling snowballs to make the snowmen. We now check in on Fifi and Shirley.

Fifi: SHIRLEE! Look

Fifi packs snow as if it were wet sand.

Shirley: What?

Fifi: I can pack ze snow as eef it was wet sand!

Shirley: Hmm. That gives me an idea! Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

Fifi: Unless it deals with sitting on ze beach, probably not.

Shirley: Well, what if we make a sand castle out of the snow, just as if it were sand.

Fifi: Vous mean, a beach scene in ze snow?

Shirley: Sure, why not?

Fifi: Why not? Zat would be fun. Moi can make ze scenery.

Shirley: Well, we need to get started.

Fifi and Shirley: For Hawaii!

Scene 4 - Judging

An hour has passed. Bugs blows his whisle.

Bugs: Ok, everybody. Stop building.

Bugs and Lola walk over to Buster and Babs. They are not talking. Instead, they are back to back with anger clearly on their faces.

Bugs to Lola: Well, it looks like they haven't even started.

Lola: Sigh. What happened Buster?

Buster: Oh, Babsy wouldn't work on my idea.

Babs: But your idea was awful!

Buster: No it wasn't!

Babs: Yes, it was!

Bugs to Lola: Uh, okay. Let's move on to de' next team, shall we?

Bugs and Lola walk over to Lily and Ivan. They are standing next to their twelve member, co-ed, snowman chorus. The ones in the front row are holding folded cards that look a little like sheet music.

Bugs: Lily! Ivan! Nice entry!

Lola: Very nice. Not that original, but nicely presented.

Ivan: Thank you, Miss Lola.

Lily: So, did we win, huh?

Bugs: Eager little raccoon, ain't cha? We have one more team to judge. So, hold on kiddo!

Bugs and Lola walk over to Fifi and Shirley. They are standing next to a sand castle, beach dunes, and palm trees crafted out of ice. A little, white beach scene.

Bugs: What do we have here?

Lola: It looks like a sand castle!

Shirley: Fer SURE! And look - we've got, like, sand dunes, palm trees, an' stuff as well, 'kay?!

Lola: So you do. So you do. That's original.

Bugs: Why?

Fifi: Hawaii!

Shirley: Of course. We want to trade the snow for real sand!

Bugs: Well, I like it. Excuse us while we decide.

Bugs and Lola walk a little bit away. They talk it over and a minute later announce the decision.

Bugs: Toonsters! The winning team of the snow sculpture competition, for great originality and capturing the feel of the event, is the team of ... of ... Shirley and Fifi!

Ivan: What?

Babs: Buster! See what you made us do!

Buster: Me! It was your fault!

Fifi and Shirley are jumping for joy!

Fifi and Shirley: We won! We won! Hawaii, 'ere we come!

Scene 5 - On the beach

Fifi and Shirley, in cute swimwear, are sitting on the beach looking at the surf. Fifi starts playing in the sand.

Fifi: Aren't vous glad zat moi made you join ze competition?

Shirley: Like, TOTALLY! It's like, hot and some junk! My tail feathers feel as if they're going to melt!

Fifi: [[ Laughs ]]

Fifi starts making balls of wet sand and piling them on top of each other.

Shirley: Whatcha making, Feef?

Fifi: Les snowmen!

Shirley and Fifi: [[ Laughing ]]
