I did put up a Zephy/Steve folder and picture on the Vicki Fox Yahoo! group. If it's unacceptable please alert me. |

I would probably rate this picture as PG-13. That is the highest rating that is acceptable. Funny picture. Thanks for posting. |

Yikes! Poor Steve. :o I certainly like the way you've drawn his face Bigtom, you've captured his shock and dismay. That's a great face on Zephy too, her typically wicked smile. Plus I like the leg stance on Steve; the indication that Zephy has surprised him as he was walking into the room. I sure hope she didn't pull this prank on him at church. I know it's non-canon, but where would this have taken place? BTW - Michael, can members of the Yahoo groups post comments for the pictures? It's been a while since I was there and there's some other good ones. In particular I like Gundaman's Vicki Fox as a 40's gangster with a pink suit (In the 2010 folder). :) |

It was inspired by this: http://www.vickifox.com/Comics/index.php?050 Also by an old Andy Capp comic where Andy, dripping wet and naked out of his bathtub, answers his front door and a salesman is there, asking calmly, "Good afternoon. May I speak to Eve?" I was thinking of the location being at church; that would also explain the "Eve" reference. |

To Stephan--You liked my Vicki Fox gangster drawing? Thanks, that's very nice of you to say. I had fun drawing her in that attire. :) Oh, BTW, I really meant for Vicki's outfit to be a shade of purple, but I guess I should have picked more carefully. I felt the purple colored pencil I have was too dark, so I went another one. Oh, well, still turned out good, though. |

@Bigtom [Chills run down my spine]. I wish I knew for certain that Zephy wouldn't do such a thing, but it's not beyond the imagination. Especially since Zephy appeared to be impressed by Steve for having "streaked a funeral service" (or maybe it's my assumption that she liked the idea). This conversation from the story arc pretty much sums it up. Vicky: "She's impossible." Aussie: "No, the idea of you two being from the same litter is impossible." I've always liked that story arc, including Steve's attempt to persuade Zephy toward christianity. Maybe some day her ears will be more receptive... ++ Gundaman said "To Stephan--You liked my Vicki Fox gangster drawing? Thanks, that's very nice of you to say. I had fun drawing her in that attire. :) " ++ @Gundaman I love it! You've done especially well with balance and proportion (two things I'm terrible at) and Vicki's face is outstanding. The outfit is nothing short of amazing! I'm very impressed with the line work; all the little details on the jacket, skirt and vest, and also on her footwear - very smooth, fine artwork. With regard to the purple/pink issue, this might also be due to the type of screen on my computer - it might be turning things up a bit bright. @Michael. *Is* there anywhere we can post comments on the drawings in the Vickifox yahoo group? I'm also interested in commenting on some of the pictures in the art gallery on the Vickifox.com site. There's some unexpected contributions there; Margaret Carspecken, Thomas Dye, Bill Holbrook, Richard Matheson, Susan Parkin (Rankin?), DC Simpson, and plenty of equally talented other artists that I'm yet to be acquainted with. Are there larger versions? The detail is difficult to make out in the small pics, particularly those that have speech bubbles. |

Thanks, Stephan. It was a fun drawing to make. And...well, I just couldn't resist having Vicki wearing a pair of spats. For some reason, I just like drawing them. You think your computer screen might have something to do with the color issue? I guess that's possible. |

@Stephan The picture with Zephy is not one I would have thought of, but it is not beyond something she might do. Yahoo Groups does not allow comments on files. The groups only provide a basic message forum. Unfortunately, during the early days of the group, there was some spamming and misuse of the forum, so I had to turn it off. The new Facebook page for Vicki does allow for posting images and comment/like capability. That may be one option. My work on the new Vicki web site, which will have all these features, is progressing slower than a dead turtle. I have been looking into using WordPress or Drupal, but neither supports the way I want to show the comic strip or allow me to alter .htaccess to forward old links to new pages. Anyway, I digress. Carspeckens - I've been friends with them for over 15 years. Their picture of Vicki at the drawing table is actually the second picture of her and pre-dates the designs from Laura. The rest of the pictures are convention sketches from the days in the late 1990's when I was a regular at the various "furry" conventions. Yes, there are larger versions because I have the original paper artwork. I will have to rescan the artwork to get larger versions, and I'm too lazy to do that. |

++ Gundaman said "well, I just couldn't resist having Vicki wearing a pair of spats. For some reason, I just like drawing them." ++ @Gundaman I didn't know what spats were until looking up the meaning today, though I'm sure I've seen them before. Very interesting. They certainly do look good on Vicki. It would be enjoyable if at some future point this outfit might make it into a story within the main comic. ++ Michael said "The picture with Zephy is not one I would have thought of, but it is not beyond something she might do" ++ @Michael [More spine chills] Zephy is going to give me pneumonia at this rate. :o ++ Michael said "The new Facebook page for Vicki does allow for posting images and comment/like capability. That may be one option." I'll have to check out the Facebook link later - my internet connection is performing poorly tonight. :( ++ Michael said "My work on the new Vicki web site, which will have all these features, is progressing slower than a dead turtle. I have been looking into using WordPress or Drupal, but neither supports the way I want to show the comic strip or allow me to alter .htaccess to forward old links to new pages. Anyway, I digress." ++ Not really digressing, I'm very interested in knowing about that. ++ Michael said "The rest of the pictures are convention sketches from the days in the late 1990's when I was a regular at the various "furry" conventions." ++ I'm thinking seriously about moving to Canada, with a goal of doing so by about 2014 (it will take me at least that long to save up). Then finally I'll be able to meet furries in the USA. Sydney's annual furmeet is very small and informal by comparrison. ++ Michael said "Yes, there are larger versions because I have the original paper artwork. I will have to rescan the artwork to get larger versions, and I'm too lazy to do that." ++ [Big cheesy grin] I could do that for you! All you need to do is entrust me with the paper copies via registered Australia Post. XD Seriously, it's a pity they're on paper. No matter how good a scanner it just never produces as sharp and clean an image as when a picture begins its life in digital format. |

To Stephan--Wow, really? Well, I guess I don't blame you. Spats aren't really something you see a lot of nowadays. But yeah, they do look good on Vicki. Hmmm...that outfit making it into a future story, someday? Now that I would like to see! :) |

It occured to me last night that Scrooge McDuck often wears spats, and this certain fits in with Wikipedia's entry "The wearing of spats is often used as symbolic shorthand to represent wealth, eccentricity or both." It's also not surprising that a gangster would wear one. Even if the outfit doesn't make it into the main comic, let me know if you draw any of the other characters in similar costumes. Aussie, Ceri, Meredith, Debbie, Cody, Zephy, Steve or Craig would look cute in such a guise. (I'm starting to feel a little guilty for hijacking the thread about Bigtom's excellent picture of Zephy and Steve). |

To bigtom and Stephan: Slightly off-topic, but still appropriate to ask, have you seen my collaboration with Gundaman? The one where one of my characters, Loki, prank-calls the mayor? Again, he did promise to give Vicki some time to save the bandstand, but then greenlighted the demolition before Vicki had the chance to. And out of "good conscience" (sarcasm) we couldn't let the breaking of a promise go unpunished. |

Hi DBoyWheeler! Is that's what's in the YouTube video? I haven't had a chance to watch it yet. YouTube is blocked on the computers at the office and I can't use my iPhone because I'm on a limited monthly internet quota. I've been meaning to over the last couple of nights but I've been caught up in E-mails. I'll make a point of checking it out tonight (it's currently 10:30am in New South Wales). |

Hi again DBoyWheeler, Sorry, I was confused between the video Bigtom posted, and your payback sequence with the mayor. I very much like your drawing style. You have a good eye for the distinct features of each character, and a steady hand that lets you draw them very smoothly, plus a good understanding of expressing the right emotions on each one's face. You've chosen good background colours as well, in that they start with soft calm colours and then finish with vibrant red for the mayor's anger and a very jovial yellow for everyone laughing. I also like your character Loki. He fits in well with the situation, and the Vicki Fox cast, with a character design that isn't overly-complicated yet still has a recognisable form. ...and I'll bet that's one phone call the Mayor wont forget in a hurry! LOL |

Sure thing, Stephan, I'll let you know if I do. |
